National Theatre Live: Present Laughter | Andrew Scott as Garry Essendine

(AUDIENCE LAUGHS) I suppose it’s of no interest
to any of you that I have been awakened
from deep, deep sleep with the lot of you screaming
like banshees! – What’s going on?
– I’ve been talking to Miss Stillington. – Who the hell is Miss Stillington?
– She’s in the spare room. I didn’t ask where she was,
I asked who she was. Oh! We might look her up
in the telephone book. She lost her latch key,
if you know what I mean. (AUDIENCE LAUGHS) – Go away, Fred, and get me some coffee.
– Rightyo. – And don’t say “rightyo”.
– Very good, sir. You met her at a party
and you brought her home here and you told her about your early
struggles and she stayed the night. Oh, I remember now.
She’s a darling. I’m mad about her. (AUDIENCE LAUGHS)

this is so bloody brilliant I can’t stop watching it. Andrew Scott is already an exceptional actor, but he really takes it to the next level in this. I’m so soooo damn excited for the theatre release! The man ages like fine wine – only getting better and better every single damn time. MOST underrated actor of our times, honestly. He’s a wonder to behold and I just can’t stop watching how he delicately plays around with emotions. It’s a feast for the eyes.
